Pakistan Bans BlackBerry Encryption -

For many years, BlackBerry has been the go-to phone for business and casual users because of its incredibly secure, encrypted server that manages all its communication. This proves impossible for law enforcement and potentially snooping intelligence agencies about you and information retrieval. As Pakistan banned encryption on BlackBerry, many companies, including BlackBerry, call for reversing the decision.

BlackBerry at present, and have done since the introduction of the smartphone, manage all data that passes to and from the phone via secure servers, which includes messages, e- mails, web browsing or any other use that transmits information on the Internet. A similar ban was introduced in 2010 in the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia for fear of safety. The bans were also taken into account in the United Kingdom David Cameron in the wake of the riots in 2011, as a way to slow the riot organization and a means to identify and arrest those responsible who used the BlackBerry secure network to coordinate protests.

In a statement released by BlackBerry, the company argued that smartphone security and protection of its customers is paramount to the entire company. And even if they are more than willing to cooperate with governments and law enforcement agencies, compromising the integrity of its secure network, are not in their agenda. The law, which comes into force in November, will require that mobile phone companies to cease communications with BlackBerry servers.
