Digital Economy Act in the UK fell web blocking plan -

Digital Economy Act of the United Kingdom entered into force in June 2010 but parts of this act have yet be introduced, such as Articles 17 and 18 which could potentially enable Parliament to block sites that participate in the infringement of copyright to be consulted by UK ISPs. There is great concern that blocking websites for piracy would path the way for the government to control and censor the Internet in general, much like "The Great Firewall of China." However, the business secretary Vince Cable today announced that Internet censorship will be scrapped and other alternatives will be studied
