This is an exciting year for MLS fans as the league signed a new contract with ESPN, Fox sports and Univision. Instead of wondering when the games will be broadcast this season will see normal broadcasts scheduled as follows:
- ESPN2 - Sunday 17: 00 to 7:00 p.m.
- Fox Sports 1 - Sunday 19: 00-to-21: 00
This will provide fans with consistent coverage of featured games each week during the season. The new contract also provides more marketing for the league which should help the sport continues to grow in the United States. Despite the length of time that football was played in the United States, the sport was not as popular as others. Although this may change over time, it is hard to imagine football to overcome one of the 3 major US sports.
This year we will see if the Galaxy can defend MLS Cup. Perhaps the Seattle Sounders FC or your favorite team will make a run for the championship. The MLS also welcomes two new expansion teams this year. The Orlando City SC (Lions) and in New York City FC joined the action in the framework of the Eastern Conference last year, which took the total number of teams to 20.
