As the picture below, the dashboard has three tabs: Dashboard, diagnostics and settings. The tab on the dashboard shows your starting location on the map, your real IP address, and indicates that your data is not guaranteed if you are not connected to the network IPVanish. Once connected to one of their VPN servers that we are in the image below, it will display your virtual location, the server you are logged in, your virtual IP address and time of the session as shown in the image below. Note the message also says connected to the server name and indicates the virtual IP address and the connection button is green with the word Disconnect below. Pressing this button disconnect from your VPN server in progress.
The first time you connect to the network server IPVanish a window will appear asking you to verify your credentials. This is illustrated in the image below.

- OpenVPN (UDP) -. what is good for most connections and the default protocol for the Windows client
- L2TP / IPSec - this is good for some mobile devices, as they have built-in support, but slower than others protocols

The rest of the Parameters tab of the dashboard allows you to control the startup options, appearance, and options for customer IPVanish closing windows. These are shown in the image above. They are as follows:
- Boot Options - These are mutually exclusive options (only one can be selected)
- Do not autoConnect - Start the client without. connection

The second menu item we will look at is the selection menu of the server that also has three tabs by using the lists and the card. Let us look first at tab by use which is shown in the image below. The customer IPVanish it easy for you to choose the best server for general use or want to download streaming media or playing games of famous places.
This screen consists of four selection buttons are as follows :.
- global icon - selecting this icon to connect to the fastest server from your current location using the latest ping values
- american flag icon -. selecting this icon to connect to the fastest server in the US for multimedia streaming or games from your current location
- UK flag icon - selecting this icon sign the fastest server in the UK for multimedia streaming or games from your current location
- Canada flag icon -. selecting this icon to connect to the fastest server in the UK for the broadcast media or games from your current location.
Those who want to stream media from suppliers in those countries or gaming enthusiasts will find very useful selections. Connect to your favorite game online through a VPN can provide a reliable connection and protect against DDoS tactics employed by some players by allowing them to take unfair advantage of the other players.
The second tab of the server selection menu we want to take a look at the tab of the map. As we have seen, this tab provides a world map with the displayed IPVanish network servers that the numbers in the circles representing the number of servers in that area of the map. The map you can zoom in and out of it showing more localized server locations as you do. Zoom can be accomplished by clicking on the + icon (in the top left corner) or by selecting one of the numbered circles that shows a number of two or more. The image below illustrates what we have clicked the circle containing 42 servers at the Amsterdam location, Netherlands. The unique spiral network servers shows that there are 42 servers in Amsterdam. Clicking on a circle with a person connect to this server. By clicking on one of the servers in Amsterdam spiral connect to this server. We will consider a better way to choose a server in Amsterdam in a moment.
The next thing to note in the above image is that we zoomed to log in Nottingham, UK server by clicking the circle that contains the card. Your currently viewing position is displayed in a red circle. This is also shown by the green switch next to the sever location. The switch at the top right is green indicating that you are connected to the selected server. Hovering the mouse over the green circle with the two in close to London shows a list of servers there. By clicking on one of the red connection buttons next to one of London's server locations, the UK will allow you to quickly switch server locations. You can also easily connect to the location of Brussels, Belgium by clicking on the green circle nearby. Finally, you can disconnect without changing the location by clicking on the location of the connected server or the logout button at the top right. Using the map view allows you to switch between servers in different locations with only a few mouse clicks.
The last way you can select and change the servers through the Server Selection List tab. The server list can be sorted by ping, country, the last connection, and the number of times online. Each list can also be filtered by the above search engine and has columns for the city, the country, the server name and the ping value (milliseconds). The list below is sorted by last logged which is divided into periods like the last day, last week, last 3 months and ever. Each subdivision can be extended and compacted by clicking the circle icon with up or down arrows to the left of it. Both connected list is not shown similarly subdivided into 1 time, 1+, and never connected.
The image below shows the server selection list sorted by country. This list directs the countries in alphabetical order. The list of servers for each country can be expanded or compacted by clicking the circle icon with up or down arrows to the left of it. Like the other lists, it has columns for the city, the country, the server name and the ping value (in milliseconds).
The last way to sort the server selection list is the ping value that will show the server with the fastest response time from your current location. This list is divided by ping milliseconds rate as indicated below. The divisions include <25 ms <50 ms <100 ms < 0 ms, and > 0 ms. As for the other lists, the servers of these subdivisions can be expanded or compressed by clicking the circle icon with up or down arrows to the left of it.
Now that we have examined the server selection list and how it can be sorted, let's look at a concrete example of how it can help us find the best server performance for a particular country of our current location. This is where the server selection list shines. We will use the Amsterdam site, for example. This is illustrated in the figure below. First, sort the list of servers ping value. Then begin to type letters in the search filter for the country you want to connect. Finally, connect to a server with the value of the lowest ping. This should connect to one of the most efficient (fastest) servers in the country for you. Repeat for other low ping rates of servers to find the best for you.
Once you have found the server in the list that you want to connect, you can select it as did us for Amsterdam server above and click the button connection to complete your connection. Alternatively, you can double-click on the location name in the list to complete the connection. Selecting another server in the list will allow you to easily change the VPN servers.
The last menu item we want to examine is the IP settings. This menu has only one tab and is shown in the image below.
There are four topics in the IP settings menu. These are:
- IP Address - This shows you the current IP address assigned by the VPN server that you are connected.
- button Change IP Address -. This will let you change the IP address every time you want
- When pressed it temporarily disconnect from your VPN connection, obtain a new IP address, and reconnect to the same server
- periodic IP address change -. This checkbox toggles for you to periodically change the IP address.
- This allows you to set the time interval in minutes with a minimum interval of 45 minutes.
- This temporarily interrupts your connection while a new address is assigned.
- Taking advantage of this feature will help make you even more anonymous while using the IPVanish Service
- Confirmation of the IP address -. this will allow you to verify that your public IP address is hidden.
- It will let you choose from a variety of websites to make this check.
- Installation / repair pilot OpenVPN
- OpenVPN drivers can sometimes be damaged and this will allow you to reinstall or repair it if this were to happen quickly.
As you can see, the Windows client IPVanish it easy to select and connect to servers on their VPN. They added some interesting features like the ability to periodically change your IP address to the maximum anonymity while using their service, and a way to check the location of your assigned IP address. Their Windows client includes some of the most advanced VPN functionality as Internet kill switch, protection against DNS leaks, and even protection against leaks IPv6. They also simplified the choice of connection for those who want to find the fastest server for general surf, stream, or games. Connecting to a server in their network is as simple as double-clicking a location in the server selection list or zoom in on the map and clicking a location. The customer default IPVanish VPN protocol better encrypted, OpenVPN (UDP) to ensure that you are always safe while connected to their service.
