the Daytona 500 Daytona Beach, Florida is usually the first and most famous race in the series stock car. It is also the home of NASCAR. In the 20 and 30, Daytona Beach became the first to set speed records on land. The number 3 went unused until Austin Dillon, the grand-son of the owner of the racing team, the number rose again in season 2014. There were mixed feelings about this move but the number belongs to the team, not the driver. However, the Earnhardt family embraced the return of the # 3 car in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. Dale Earnhardt Jr. said he was pleased that the number was raised, and it was the right thing to do.
Curiously, it could be argued that Dale Earnhardt saved the life of Austin Dillon. Security radical change after the death of Earnhardt allowed Dillon to walk a brutal accident on the last lap of the Coke Zero 400. The crash occurred at the Daytona Motor Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida. Clearly, changes since the death of Dale Earnhardt made a big impact on the sport. No one can really count the number of lives that have been saved because of changes thereafter.
