A report published by a Web security company leader last week contained some interesting results in respect to attacks over the internet.
The survey, conducted by Incapsula, confirmed that, although global superpowers the US and China produce the largest number of attacks on websites, it is in fact the United Kingdom has the highest percentage of attacks by computer session to 0.86%.
Another surprising finding is that countries such as Denmark and Hungary top the list, taking the dubious mantle to China and (in the case of Denmark) in the United States, pushing states to third on 0.62%.
However, in response to its findings, Incapsula were keen to add that the statistics were subject to distortions if a country has been subjected to "attacks bursts" or a particularly nasty hacker. In the case of Denmark, for example, the analyzed month saw a single hacker responsible for the deployment of a variety of automated attacks at once, which greatly increases the ratio of the country.
Although the information collected by Incapsula not go into too much detail, there are two things that every computer user should take with them when playing this kind of information. The first is how widespread the threat of attack is, even when limiting the entire UK. The second is that one particularly determined attacker can launch attacks on a large number of computers at one time. In short, Internet safety should be a primary concern wherever you are, so small that you can instinctively that the threat may be.
In addition to that you are monitored by an updated antivirus program with firewall security, another step you can take to strengthen your Internet security is to use a virtual private network, or VPN. In not only hide your web traffic from view, but you also IP address, a VPN means that, while being well guarded against automated attacks such as Trojan and worm virus, you can ensure that your personal data as they entered online are encrypted, thwarting unwanted efforts "nosy" to see sensitive or vital information.
