How to use a VPN to watch the Indianapolis 500

I will use IPVanish for the example of how to use a service VPN to watch the race. First, you'll want to download the VPN client. IPVanish offers desktop client software for Windows, Mac and Linux. In addition, mobile applications for iOS and Android offer.

Once you have had the chance to download and install the software, you can start. Start the client IPVanish and select a server location. We will guide you through our step by step demonstration using their Windows client.

  • Select a server location. In this case, we chose Atlanta, but IPVanish has a large network of servers located throughout the United States
  • After choosing the location, we recommend you choose OpenVPN (TCP) or (UDP ) for the protocol of choice. For the live event streaming or videos you want to use OpenVPN (UDP). IPVanish also supports PPTP and L2TP, but we always recommend OpenVPN because it offers the best combination of protection of privacy and speed.
  • Click Connect. Soon after, you'll see the button to change from top to "Disconnect" and show green. You may also notice the server location and IP address appear at the top of the client.
  • We in the United States, or at least it seems so. Because of this, we can reach a site like we were in Atlanta. The same would be true if we wanted to connect to another region.

There you have it. Now that you have an IP address from the server IPVanish the US, you can browse the internet as if you were in downtown Atlanta. The same is true of any country. Connect to a server in the UK to watch BBC iPlayer or another country for a different programming.

As you can see, a good VPN will open doors to content worldwide. If you live outside the US, the service can help you to access popular services like Hulu and Pandora. You still need an account for services like Pandora, but the VPN will help you enjoy blocked content, no matter the area you are trying to access.

Enjoy all the excitement at the 2016 Indianapolis 500. Please share this message with your friends, so they have the opportunity to watch as well. Follow us @VPNFan for the latest guides and offers.
