DD-WRT router using the protocol LT2P -

In this tutorial, we'll show you how to configure your DD-WRT router using L2TP.

using the LT2P protocol and PPTP is much easier to install than using OpenVPN.

If you prefer, you can set up a PPTP connection

If you have problems with the speed, or experience problems connecting, you should try to use all the 3 protocols (PPTP, L2TP and OpenVPN.)

To establish a successful L2TP connection on your DD-WRT router you need good / bug-free DD firmware -WRT. We recommend built like Big, Mega and VPN, with numbers 14896 and 21676. build If you are not sure that your router supports DD-WRT firmware, check their router database

access to your router

to access your router via cable or Wi-Fi, open your browser and type your local IP address DD-WRT is 192.168.1.1 ( by default), however, you can change it if you prefer.

Configuration

When you enter the DD-WRT Control Panel, click " Configuration ". Just below, click " Basic Configuration " and you will see the "Setup WAN ". Now please change the fields as follows:

  1. 1 . WAN Connection Type:
      • Connection Type: Choose " L2TP " in the drop -down menu
      • gateway (L2TP server): Enter an IP address of the server you can find by logging on VPN control panel and clicking " Software & Support ". Then click on " See " next to " set-up VPN manually - No software ". Copy and paste the IP address of the server you want to connect to
      • Username :. Your HMA! username
      • Password: Enter your special PPTP password. This can be found by logging on VPN control panel and clicking " Software & Support ". Then click " See " next to " manually set-up VPN - No software "

Change Settings connection as explained below:

    • Enable "Use DHCP"
    • Enable "Require CHAP"
    • Disable "Deny PAP"
    • Enable "Require authentication"
    • Disable IPTV reception
    • connection Strategy: Check the "Keep Alive" (Redial 30-second period)

2. optional settings

  • STP: Disable the "STP"

3. Address Settings server network (DHCP)

  • DHCP Type: Select " DHCP server " drop-down menu
  • Enable " DHCP server "
  • Static DNS 1: Enter 208.67.222.222
  • Static DNS 2: Enter 208.67.220.220
  • Static DNS 3: Enter 8.8.8.8

please note :. Parameters / fields that are not listed, leave the default or white

When finished, please check the settings you have changed (use the image below as reference), then click " Save " and " Apply settings "

Check your location

once you have clicked on " Apply settings ", it means you have started to connect to your VPN server chosen. After a while, you have successfully logged in!

If you wish, you can check your position when connecting to the VPN.

You can click on the " Status " tab, then click " WAN " to check your connection. Simply click on " Disconnect " if you want to disconnect from the VPN.
