Ministry of Sound Sues Spotify

record label Ministry of Sound are set to continue the streaming music service Spotify, with accusations that some of its mirror Playlists users of the label compilation albums. The label does not currently have any of these albums available on Spotify, and it is said that the service infringes on their copyrights by allowing users to recreate compilations and refusing to remove the offending playlists. Lohan Presencer, CEO of Ministry of his said, "everybody talked about curation, but curation has been the cornerstone of our business over the last 20 years." Ministry of Sound has launched legal proceedings in the High Court in London on Monday, but experts warn that this European case law interesting test is risky and a potential public relations nightmare.

US FTC cracks down on insecurity webcam

Federal Trade Commission of the United States issued a stern warning to Trendnet, a home security manufacturer and baby monitor web-connected cameras. The company failed to use "reasonable security" when it came to designing cameras and test the software, which means that the alleged private video stream can be viewed by anyone online. The FTC also said that from April 2010, Trendnet were transmits passwords of their users through the Internet and through mobile phone applications as plain text as opposed to encrypted data channels that should have been used, leaving thousands of customers open to potential hackers. A settlement was reached, with strict conditions imposed on Trendnet for the next 20 years.

Samsung Android improves safety

Samsung has reached an agreement with the San Francisco-based anti-virus firm Lookout to provide updated security protection Galaxy brand their Android devices. The company will use the Lookout software to improve its security product Knox, who will scan its mobile and tablets for all threats. Knox will be targeted primarily at professional users in order to convince businesses that the company's phones are a safe alternative to phone platforms BlackBerry and Windows, both favoring the security capabilities of their devices as one of the most important features.
