That's why many users choose to store their user names and passwords in a text file; somewhere on their computer or write on a piece of paper. But it is extremely precarious that you can not guarantee there will be no unauthorized access to data. Saving a password in the clear type, instead of storing encrypted, is a gift for any pirate. Christmas is a time for giving, but certainly not for pirates!
2. Password Managers

For managers such password:
- LastPass
- KeePass
- 1Password
- Keeper
3. different format
If you do not register for a password manager service or download related applications to keep your passwords, you can also:
Store your passwords in a slightly different format. For example, if your password is "mypw2500" save as "2500mypw" or "mypw5000". You increase security by letters and / or parts of the password simply switching.
4. Toggle personal details
You can also add something personal, for example, if your password contains the name of your mother, save it as your father's name in place. Only you know what -. which makes clear the type of passwords, even if saved in a text file on your desktop, useless to anyone who can access
5. Store safely
Storing passwords in a text file easily found on your computer is not a good idea, but alternatives. Instead of letting your openly visible text file on your desktop or in your "My Documents", see:
- stored in a subfolder hidden on your computer
- store on a USB key, you can secure
- or even better, you compress in a .ZIP file password-protected or other archive formats, such as RAR
